Little Oakie!

Postby Martin179b on Sat Oct 24, 2009 5:51 pm

Wow, what a cool and fun day! - 10am practice start - 3 moto format - Gang Only - Done by 2pm! Sweet

It was a haul, and done during the dark of the early morn, but it was well worth it. The track is the oldest in CA, and although the gate looks it, the track has a high fun-factor. Tight & jumpy, a-la 408MX, there is a long start straight, some jumbo-sized whoops and some big tables. Prep was great, and CMA ran the program with efficiency and basically, glitch-free. Results were accurate, and quick to come out (I have a hard copy and will scan them tonight and get them over to our Webmaster for posting.) Great job to CMA!

Some cool racing and I got some pics, which I will work though and post. 30 Exp turned into the Slaney/Marsh show, with a little Gary Forrest added for Shat's & Giggles. Callahan raced, but he's still in "heal-mode" and probably wont be his old, fast, self for a few more weeks.

I'll have to agree with you on that one.
The prep was way better than last year.
Fun time for all....

I dont know about all, not the kind of ride I would've hoped for on my first race as a novice. I seemed to be always in the wrong gear or on the wrong line or whatever, just didnt feel comfortable at all today. hopefully things will be different next race, and lookin forward to gettin up with the faster guys to do some bat'lin' next year.....oh, and Martin........your still my favorite too

No worries Damion. Proud of you for promoting when you're ready. You definitely have the speed and endurance to race the Novice class, just might take a race or 2 to get comfortable. The BRaP family has faith in you!

Now I think I missed my opportunity for a win!!! I looked at the results and didn't see a result sheet that showed a 30 beginner race??? Were there no 30 beginners? If only I could have got out of work :x

I think the only "30 beginner" was no longer a beginner,he bumped himself to novice... It was cool to see that green plate out there in a sea of yellow. We were all rooting for you Damion.

And I have to say the three moto format was the bomb. I would vote that we run three motos at all gang only events. I blew my first moto and finished last but still had a longshot to trophy(failed) whereas normally I would have been done after one.

The track was really tough for me to get comfortable on but once I did I loved it. After it dried out a bit the traction was endless. We had a decent (8) turnout in 38Beg and the racing was really good. 6 guys were tied for second after two motos with everyone basically still having a shot at a trophy. You can't ask for more than that.

oh, and it was the first time I have ever heard "Bump Talk" on the starting line.....lol
:beers:

Little Okie was a fun track. THe long straight away wasoff the hook. I really liked the three moto format. I had so much fun racing against Manual Florence and Matt Flatter all tree Motos . Those guy's fought hard each moto. Minter showed off his skills and great form the first two motos. Looking forward to seeing you next race.

Little Oakie was great. The track prep was spot on, and the kept the right amount of water on the track all day( no dust). Layout is fun and flowing. The three moto format was excellent and should be repeated as often as possible. Now if Slaney wouldn't have hole shoted all three moto's (its much better if we all take turns!) it would have been perfect, and callahan was healthy. I really enjoy racing 30 exp as everyone in that class races hard and fair. Oh yeah and the weather was perfect!!

I am going to jump in on the 3 moto format.

We got to ride more and finish sooner....it doesn't get much better than that.

Thanks to everyone that helped on my sons stolen bike fund since he outgrew the bike and needs new gear the money you gave will go to that. Decided that it will buy him a new pair of boots after that new chest protector and then a new helmet.Little Okie is one hella fun track well suited for a two stroke. I didnt expect to finish the way I did I think I was inspired by the support I got and My son doing an impression of the sierras Mike Caldwells kids in the pond. Had to Hose him off before I let him in Traversos Car/truck. What a great day Thanks again fellas see you at Dixon

Hey Carson, speaking of 30 beginner...I saw you moved to 38...I miss a couple races and you don't wanna bang bars with me anymore? :( Guess I'm gonna have to get faster so I can race the next guy up the chain. :word: Maybe we'll meet again in the 38 Nov class in a couple years...I'm still young unlike you old farts! :nyahnyah:

Yep 3-Moto Format was a nice change fo' show. Had a blast being back on the bike after a months layoff and missing Glen Helen. Way to step it up Clayton. Brian n' bryan nice rides. Gary P. way to go 1-1 lol KJ kickin'A** and taken names on the RM250.The Expert class for showin' the rest of us how it's done.Didn't get to enjoy much of the other motos seems like as soon as I took my halmet off I was putting it back on and heading to the line for my next moto.Oh and Rich,we'll still be bangin' bars but now you'll just have a 30sec. head start and it will make roostin you feel that much better. Now now Carson...Haven't you looked at any of the previous attempts at smack talking in my general direction? It always goes the same way...If you want to know what way that is, come check the trophy I received from the BRaP posse as the "King of Smack" (Props to Timmy).

Oh and I'm not worried Carson, I have never actually seen roost come from your back tire. Gotta twist that throttle to get roost! So as I come around to LAP YOU, I won't have to worry about getting roosted. :nyahnyah: I saw you asking for more laps after Lil Oakie...Good idea, because after I lap you you'll get even one less lap!
