Glen Helen!

Postby Martin179b on Thu Oct 08, 2009 8:16 pm

So we are here, got here at 6pm, gate lady locked the gate! So we have to camp on the outside until tomorrow... :barf: Oh well, no biggie, there are a few of us stuck out here, so we'll just make the best of it and drink the night away......

More updates coming as we get them.

Friday Update: we got in at 8am. They put some cute gal at the gate to make amends...

Weather: PERFECT! And very little smoke from the local fire. Typical SoCal smog, but otherwise it's going great.

The track was very well prepped today, and it was open practice for OTHG only. Very nice. Had a few good motos with Barsalls, Lawson, Kirra Garcia and a few others. Pretty good turnout and the track for tomorrow looks HUGE! The Big Hill (Mt. St. Helen) is in play AND we are going back in the canyon. So far, it's been great and no injuries to report from practice.

Went to Chapparral this afternoon, along with just about every other OTHG member who came down. It truly is a motorcycle rider's wet dream come true...

Should be a great day of racing. More updates to follow.

Sorry many of you guys couldn't make it for one reason or another, but I'll try an post each day to keep you in the loop.

How's Cally?

Saturday Update-

Yes, the rumors are true. Callahan showed up to do his requsite lap. Rode his WR enough to keep his standings. He'll do a lap tomorrow, too.

We did the Big Hill and the track was a blast. Yep, it got brutally rough and bumpy, but was major fun in moto 1, notsomuch in moto 2. Still, no major injury updates, which is a big plus. Some good rides, but mostly by the South guys. This is DEFINITELY their home track! But Matt Flatterer did get a holeshot award for our 38 Nov group.

Dinner was awesome and the raffle was great too. Lots of good prizes, tires, boots, helmets and a pit bike even!

Great time so far- I'm being paged as my drink is ready....

G'night from Glen Helen.

Yep, Cally did his 2 laps and saved his season. Ironman Supreme.

Ah, on the road home. What a fun weekend. Taco Madness, was MAD (and that's all I need to say about that)
Major thanks to Dan "Carne Asarna" for the delicious eats, and thank the Mes/Scott & Earnst crew for the intro to Sweet Tea. It can cause temporary insanity. And damage to unsuspecting chairs.

The track was epic! and so was the racing. A tad shorter today, but the change was welcome. Great races and some serious domination by some south chapter guys. Results were promised to be up tonight on the South Chapter's website.

I had a great time and rode as hard as I could. finished just outside the top-10, which I'm fairly happy with. I did see some Bay guys with trophies, and they are not too big, but really sweet. Nice detail.

Big thanks to the South Chapter, it was a really fun way to wrap up the National Series. Also massive thanks to JBars for the weekend hospitality.

See you guys at the track!

Glen Helen was a blast even though I wasn't able to ride, still recovering from my ankle injuries. Track was good, and I thought it looked funner and way faster than last year. It was cool to see everyone there having a good time and there was some awesome racing going on. Gotta give props to Callahan for showing up and doing laps for points to save his championship... :yourock: :sonic999:  Glad everyone did good and there wasn't any real bad injuries from what I saw. Did alot of cheering for the Bay and Sierra guys, so much I almost lost my voice. :woohoo:

Well I did the calculations and by my count--- Overalls for each chapter.

Bay-2
Sierra-4
Valley-2
Reno-0
South-11

If I'm not mistaken, I think the south needs to do some bumpin down there... :bump: :stirthepot:

Had a blast and can't wait to get back on the bike at the hangover..

It went like this.....
Tues...9 or so hour drive to Wildomar (sister's house)
Wed...work on trailer/watch niece play volleyball
Thurs...9 or so hours @ Disneyland (not recommended)
Fri...Gang only practice @ GH ( look at those hills!)
Sat...went 1-2 and pretty happy about it (thanks to all who gave the  after the first moto), serious Taco Madness
Sun...went 3-2 and not quite as happy, wanted that O/A, but satisfied w/2nd, drove to Valencia (cousin's house)
Mon...8 or so hours @ Magic Mountain (HIGHLY recommended, some sick @$$ coasters), then 3 hour drive to Reedley (other cousin's house), arriving @ midnight or so, when, unfamiliar with the landscape and focused on the wrong side of the trailer, rubbed a very large tree limb (again) and ripped a big slit in the rubber roof that I just finished repairing right before this trip
Tues...woke up early and discovered the aforementioned hole, 2 or so hour drive in the rain and hella strong wind (at our backs, thank God)
.....just in case you were wondering

Props of the weekend...Dan725s on clinching the Championship, Kyle116b for doin' the same, Seth383b on a strong ride and finish, all the guys on the gate and in the corner every moto, especially Hill93b, that 999 guy for even makin' the trip, Dan "Carne-a-Sarna" and my son Brendan for Taco Madness (and gate sweeping duties), Kirra for his Sunday comeback from Saturdays drama, and Jonny711b for good advice on lines that final moto.

Big Misses of the weekend...my bro Craig, Shane "I cant go cause I got a hang-nail" Bernal, Rich, Tim, Todd, Carson, and any of the other :brap: family. OH...and Plaa...Platg...Platj...Gary on the Mic. It took 2 of their guys to sorta come close to what you do by yourself :yourock:

Get Well Soon's...Jonny (shoulder and back/ribs) Eddie Benson (a whole buncha stuff, good to finally meet ya too, btw) and Kyle (rib thing too, I think) and anyone else I missed

Cant wait til next year (minus Disneyland and the tree limb incident)........DC215
