Postby Bernal756b on Tue Jun 02, 2009 8:04 pm

As much as I am not a fan of Sandhill. :deadhorse: My good buddy Rich ask me to come out. So i will try my hardest to make it. Rich Hill, Tim Carrillo, and mysaelf will be out there. I will be out later, like around 3:30 or 4:00. I think they are going early. Around 12:30 or so.

Yep! Tim and I are trying to get there around noon-ish. They haven't been crowded at all! The prep is just ok, but it's watered and NOT CROWDED.

Ever wonder why it's NOT crowded?

I was a big fan of Sandhill for years, but I just can't swallow enough bile to get myself to go back out there. Same old layout, same 1/2-a## prep attempt, and just an attitude of "we don't care" in the air.

I really hope that they get their act together. I'd happy volunteer time to help re-build Sandhill. And since I'll be doing the race schedule for the remainder of 2009 and 2010, if they pick up their game (and get a gate?), I can see us racing there- BUT, they need to show that they can care for a track before I consider a race there.

Let me know how today is out there. No BS, just let us all know if anything has changed out there. I sincerely hope it does. More MX is great for NorCal.

Totally honest??? I agree. But the gate girl (AKA thank the crank) is going to be a professional rapper and be famous some day (She said so herself when she spit (LITERALLY) some rhymes at us 2 weeks ago and gave us a quarter to have for when she's famous??????) so I wanna roll with her entourage! :rotflmao:

I know what you mean K-martin. Maybe I will talk to them about it today and let them know we would race there if they got their act together. The prep work wouldn't really be that hard with the kinda sandy soil they got out there, but they are too lazy and cheap to do it. I know guys that know how to run tractors and I'm sure we could get that thing prepped really nice if they would just let us use the tractors and pay for the gas, but I doubt that will happen.

I will post a true, honest report when I get home. Maybe even add some pictures? MAYBE! :liar: The track has changed A LITTLE, but it is basically the same track ALL THE TIME. I'll keep you posted and we can BS about it some more at 408mx on Friday...I bet that track is gonna be prepped freakin sweet! AND I'm gonna get some skillzzzzz! :fingers_crossed_emo: Well maybe I shouldn't go that far! :rotflmao:

OK, so I'm back from Sand Hill...

Review of track prep: ALMOST all of the track was scraped, a whopping 2 turns were disced, and MOST of the track was dry! There was about 5% of the track that appeared to have been watered, and out of that 5% there were two standing puddles and two spots of slop!

Layout was the same (of course) even the breaking bumps, and acceleration bumps were the same... and we were the 3rd and 4th bikes on the track...

Spoke to the "Staff" and they just complained about the economy and said they were losing money so they couldn't afford to run the equipment for ride days. And looking at the turnout by the time we left (about 10 bikes) they probably weren't making enough money....BUT I bet if they prepped it right a couple weeks in a row, the word would get out and they would have enough bikes to make some good money!

So the track left a lot to be desired...BUT speaking as a beginner (so take it for what it's worth) I think it's a good idea to ride at different tracks and tracks that might not be well prepared sometimes is a good training tool. A well prepared track is great and fun to ride, but let's be honest, how "prepped" was Hangtown if you were in the last few motos on Sunday? While they did a great job prepping that track, with that many bikes, warm weather, etc. there's only so much you can do to try to keep the track nice by the 25th moto of the day. If you only ride on nicely watered, "groomed" tracks all the time, the dry, dusty, potholed freeways that some tracks become during races can be difficult to ride.

So, all seat time is not equal, but any day of riding beats working!

Hope that helped?

Did you expect anything to be different? Sand Hill is what it is... :deadhorse: I like the story about Methal Ethel rappin and spittin at the gate, that is good stuff! :drama:
If it wasn't for all the jumps and turns I would be hella fast!

Ya well, like they understand about the economy and making money. Look at them CRACK HEADS! IF they tried a little work, that track would be sick. Instead its $hit! :nyahnyah:
